Soccer Recap: Cathedral Takes a Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Cathedral couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the San Dieguito Academy Mustangs by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Phantoms came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Mustangs are ranked 388th).

Cathedral's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for San Dieguito Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-14.

Cathedral wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Bishop Amat on the 19th. San Dieguito Academy has also already played their next game (against Hilltop), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
