Football Game Preview: Wildwood Wildcats vs. Tampa Catholic Crusaders

Two dominant signal callers in Zoey Brown and Ava Kopp are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Wildwood Wildcats will be playing at home against the Tampa Catholic Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Wildwood sitting on 11 straight victories and Tampa Catholic on six.

Wildwood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Dunedin, posting a 37-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight games by 20 points or more so far this season.

A big part of Wildwood's victory came down to the chemistry between Ja'niya Corbin and her top target Trinidy Harris. Corbin picked up 48 receiving yards and a pair of TDs while Harris picked up 54 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Corbin a new career-high in receiving touchdowns (two).

One reason for the win was Wildwood's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Corbin and Aubree Solomon, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Tampa Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Keswick Christian on Wednesday, taking the game 20-13.

Wildwood pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 33.5 points this season. As for Tampa Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.

Wildwood strolled past Tampa Catholic when the teams last played back in March by a score of 26-12. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
