Softball Recap: Gunn Wins Going Away Against Del Mar

While Gunn put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Del Mar. The Gunn Titans were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over the Del Mar Dons. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

The result came thanks to Alex Denoel's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Anna Brown and Allison Novick did most of the damage at the plate: Brown scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Novick went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. What's more, Brown posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makena Smith, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Gunn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Mar only posted a batting average of .053.

Gunn's record now sits at 2-0. As for Del Mar, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1.

Gunn wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-5 defeat against Notre Dame on the 4th. Del Mar has also already played their next game (against Everett Alvarez), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
