Softball Recap: Chiawana Falls Short Against Ranked Hanford

Chiawana faced Hanford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Riverhawks took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The loss continues a trend for the Riverhawks in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost seven in a row.

Alyssa Melendez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 3-for-3.

Chiawana's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Hanford, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Coming up, Chiawana will host Pasco at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Riverhawks are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hanford, they will face off against Richland at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bombers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight.
