Maylee Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Rockford Auburn let Ava Johnson and KayKay Hudson run wild. Johnson scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Hudson scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Johnson has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emmie Ostergard, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Rockford Auburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Guilford posted their closest win since May 3, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Durand 4-3.

Rockford Auburn's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 2-6.
Guilford's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rockford Auburn has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .514. It's a different story for Guilford, though, as they've only averaged .355. Will they be able to contain Rockford Auburn's hitters?
