Baseball Recap: Arcadia Takes a Loss

Arcadia had lost three straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-16 to make it four. They lost 12-1 to the Mesquite Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 on Tuesday.

As for Mesquite, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.

For Mesquite's part, Cooper Leroy spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Bently Sandall was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kash Rogers, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Coming up, Arcadia will be playing at home against Marcos de Niza at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Padres have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.87 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Mesquite, they will venture away from home to challenge Cactus Shadows at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 11.2 runs per game this season.
