Softball Recap: Case Makes It Four in a Row at Home

It was a proper cat-fight when Case took on West Bridgewater on Wednesday. The Cardinals never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Cailyn Durand made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Breanna Fontes was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Ella Preston was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Case kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Case pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for West Bridgewater, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
