Basketball Recap: Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics Takes a Loss

If Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics was riding high fresh off their 74-50 takedown of Palmetto HomeSchool last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics Wildcats were dealt a 78-48 loss at the hands of the Cathedral Academy Generals on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Generals recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics' defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deron Ruff, who posted ten points and five boards. Zach White was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points.

Cathedral Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaden Whitledge, who went 6 of 9 to rack up 13 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. What's more, Whitledge also posted a 67% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daniel Tolbert, who went 5 for 10 en route to 20 points.

Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics' loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Cathedral Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 24-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Faith Christian the next time they take the court. Cathedral Academy will host Faith Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
