St. Mary (Natchitoches, La.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 53-0 win over Arcadia (La.).
In the first quarter, the Tigers put up 21 points. St. Mary scored on a
Tyler McCain touchdown pass to
Jacob Murchison, a touchdown run by
Arthur Isaac and an Isaac touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a McCain touchdown pass to Murchison in the first quarter, SM was up 34-0 at the half.
The Natchitoches school expanded its lead to 47 points entering the fourth quarter. The Tigers scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown pass by McCain to
Ryan Cunningham.
St. Mary's standout player in the win was McCain. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns.
The victory was a step in the right direction for SM, which was coming off a 20-8 defeat at the hands of Winnfield in its previous game. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Hornets.
Arcadia (0-4) will play a non-conference game against Lakeside next week, while St. Mary (3-1) will take on Haughton also in a non-conference game.
