Basketball Game Preview: Falconer Golden Falcons vs. Randolph Cardinals

Falconer hasn't had much luck against Randolph recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Falconer Golden Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Randolph Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.

Falconer is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They were outmatched by Frewsburg and fell 66-22. The Golden Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.

Meanwhile, Randolph came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Panthers to the tune of 70-18. 70 seems to be a good number for the Cardinals as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Randolph found their leader in sophomore Skylar Herington, who went 13 of 21 en route to 30 points along with five steals and three blocks. That makes it six consecutive games in which Herington has scored at least a third of Randolph's points. Quinn Pence was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

Randolph was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 20 assists in three consecutive contests.

Randolph's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Falconer, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Falconer suffered a grim 55-33 defeat to Randolph in their previous meeting on January 10th. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Falconer was down 36-14.
