Baseball Recap: Peshtigo Triumphs

While Peshtigo's win against Wausaukee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Rangers 9-7. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Ethan LaComb made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Peshtigo let Elliot Proft and Levi Nemec run wild. Proft went 3-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base, while Nemec went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Proft is becoming a predictor of Peshtigo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-6 when he doesn't). Caleb Klimek was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Peshtigo's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Wausaukee, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Looking ahead, Peshtigo will square off against Niagara at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wausaukee, they are taking a road trip to take on Oconto at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Rangers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
