Baseball Recap: Northeast Takes a Loss

Northeast fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Sycamore on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the War Eagles by a score of 5-4. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 13-2 to the War Eagles when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Aidan Lee was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, Shamad Parker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Northeast is 3-1 when Parker posts two or more stolen bases, but 8-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Robinson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Sycamore, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Northeast will challenge Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Sycamore, they will face off against Dickson County at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.
