Baseball Game Preview: Crystal Springs Uplands Gryphons vs. Priory Panthers

For the second straight game, Crystal Springs Uplands will face off against Priory. The Gryphons will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Crystal Springs Uplands' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Priory's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Tuesday, Crystal Springs Uplands came up short against Priory and fell 7-4. The loss was the Gryphons' first of the season.

For Priory's part, James Weaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kai Park was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Harrison Kim also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Priory and bumps their season record up to 5-3. As for Crystal Springs Uplands, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Crystal Springs Uplands has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Priory struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
