Baseball Recap: Dolores Comes Up Short

If Dolores was feeling good fresh off their 11-3 takedown of Sargent on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears fell just short of the Farmers by a score of 5-4 on Saturday. The Bears were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Farmers earlier this season, when they won 11-3.

Declan Warren and Branson Lee stepped up to the plate in a big way. Warren went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Lee went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Lee has become a key player for Dolores: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-15 otherwise. Waylon Kiddoo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Dolores' defeat dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Sargent, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Dolores will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cedaredge at 2:00 p.m. on May 9. As for Sargent, they will challenge La Veta at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
