Softball Recap: Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Lawrence Central Bears as they made off with an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Anna Caskey made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other pitching news, Taylar Cody looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Megan Todd was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Anni Felts, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lawrence Central, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

Looking ahead, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard will take on Beech Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.74 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lawrence Central, they will host Living Water Homeschool at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Marlins will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
