Union City and Saegertown are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Union City came out on top against Youngsville on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Bears put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 11-1 win. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly ten runs.

Grace Chapman was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Tingley, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Union City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saegertown). Everything went their way against Lakeview on Wednesday as they made off with a 23-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Hailey Obenrader made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in six of her five plate appearances with five RBI, three doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, Rylie Braymer and Maddy Pratt did most of the damage at the plate: Braymer got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Pratt went 3-for-4 with six RBI and two doubles. Mackenzie Brauen was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
Union City's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Saegertown, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Union City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .377. However, it's not like Saegertown struggles in that department as they've averaged .381. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
