Preview: Plainfield Quakers vs. Greenwood Woodmen

The Plainfield Quakers will head out on the road to take on the Greenwood Woodmen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Plainfield will be strutting in after a win while Greenwood will be coming in after a loss.

Even though Terre Haute South Vigo scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, Plainfield still came out on top. Plainfield took their match against Terre Haute South Vigo 64-55. Given Plainfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Terre Haute South Vigo is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Plainfield's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Collin Schmidt, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, and Noah Smith, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Eli Ellis was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Meanwhile, Greenwood lost to Greenfield-Central at home by a decisive 66-47 margin on Saturday. Greenwood has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Plainfield's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Greenwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Plainfield strolled past Greenwood in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a score of 55-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plainfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
