It was a good run, but Centerville unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Wednesday. They received a blow as they fell 62-48 to the Pendleton Heights Arabians. The match was a 29-29 toss-up at halftime, but the Bulldogs couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the loss, Centerville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jace Hollendonner went 7-for-15 on his way to 20 points and three steals. That's the most points Hollendonner has posted since back in December of 2024. Landyn Keiser was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.
Cooper Sims was his usual excellent self, shooting 75% from the field en route to 30 points and three steals for Pendleton Heights. The game was Sims' fourth in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Mozingo, who put up nine points and five rebounds.
Centerville's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Pendleton Heights, their record is now 9-14.
Centerville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 75-46 victory against Cambridge City Lincoln on the 28th. As for Pendleton Heights, they will challenge Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenfield-Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 24 matches -- so hopefully Pendleton Heights likes a good challenge.
