Basketball Recap: Homer Takes a Loss

Homer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Bloomfield Bees and fell 63-29. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-14.

Despite the defeat, Homer saw an underclassman step up: freshman Leidy Hunter posted three points and five rebounds. Reed Modlin also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bloomfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keaten Gilsdorf, who put up nine points and five steals. Gilsdorf is becoming a predictor of Bloomfield's success: when he posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 7-13 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Keldon Loecker, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 13 points and seven boards.

Homer's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Bloomfield, they pushed their record up to 10-13 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Homer has already played their next matchup, a 64-38 defeat against Wakefield on the 21st. As for Bloomfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-27 loss against Wausa on the 21st.
