Basketball Recap: Gage Park Skates Past ACERO Garcia with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gage Park). They blew past the ACERO Garcia Patriots, posting an 84-41 victory. Given the Fighting Owls' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while the Patriots are ranked 729th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Gage Park to victory were Anton Macklin and Kenneth Wright. Macklin posted 20 points, while Wright put up 18 points. With that strong performance, Wright is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Tamarion Jude was another key player, putting up eight points.

The win made it two in a row for Gage Park and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for ACERO Garcia, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Gage Park will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Victoria Soto at 4:30 p.m. on January 21st. As for ACERO Garcia, they will challenge Tilden at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. ACERO Garcia is facing Tilden at the right time seeing as Tilden is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
