Baseball Game Preview: Green Run Stallions vs. Kempsville Chiefs

Green Run hasn't had much luck against Kempsville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Stallions will look to defend their home field against the Chiefs at 5:00 p.m. Green Run has given up an average of 14.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Green Run is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 15th straight game on Thursday. They lost 13-2 to Cox.

CJ Jones was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Kempsville fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Great Bridge on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 4-3.

Ben Krause was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Kempsville is 3-1 when Krause allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Kempsville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Hoffer, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Kempsville has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Green Run, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.
