Basketball Recap: Franklin Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Franklin Academy came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 58-38 margin over the Saranac Spartans. The Huskies pushed the score to 48-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Spartans cut but never quite recovered from.

Leading Franklin Academy to victory were Cam Keating and Brad Poupore. Keating went 7-for-12 en route to 20 points and six rebounds, while Poupore went 7-for-12 to rack up 15 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Those 20 points gave Keating a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Hanna, who posted seven points and eight boards.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Franklin Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saranac only racked up six assists.

Saranac lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Carson Duffield, who had nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Armaniii Richards, who scored seven points.

Franklin Academy pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 36.1% in those games and 28.7% outside of them. As for Saranac, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Franklin Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-51 victory against Massena on the 11th. As for Saranac, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-52 defeat against Plattsburgh on the 10th.
