Basketball Recap: Catholic Central Skates Past Varsity Opponent with Ease

Catholic Central came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Varsity Opponent 96-45. The Crusaders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season.

Catholic Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sei'Mir Roberson out in front who went 11 of 15 en route to 28 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Roberson's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Johnavin Sapienza, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists.

Catholic Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Catholic Central's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.

Catholic Central will square off against Schalmont at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Catholic Central is facing Schalmont at the right time seeing as Schalmont is stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Varsity Opponent, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-21 defeat against Barnes Academy on the 27th.
