Baseball Game Preview: Whiteville Wolfpack vs. First Flight Nighthawks

The Whiteville Wolfpack will face off against the First Flight Nighthawks at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whiteville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so First Flight's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Whiteville's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Monday's struggle, when J.H. Rose hitters got past them. The Wolfpack came up short against the Rampants on Monday, falling 13-7.

Meanwhile, First Flight waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Nighthawks, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

First Flight let Aaron Stewart and Cade Gehris run wild. Stewart went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Gehris went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Everest Ouellette, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

First Flight's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Whiteville, their loss dropped their record down to 14-3.
