Basketball Game Preview: Columbus Falcons vs. Vicksburg Gators

The Columbus Falcons will challenge the Vicksburg Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vicksburg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Columbus, who comes in off a win.

Columbus is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Ridgeland, who was ranked fourth at the time (Columbus was ranked second). Columbus came out on top against Ridgeland by a score of 70-62 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Vicksburg was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap two weeks ago as they fell 50-46 to Warren Central. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Columbus is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points per game. As for Vicksburg, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Columbus ended up a good deal behind Vicksburg when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 61-47. Can Columbus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
