Baseball Recap: Cathedral Comes Up Short

Cathedral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Francis Golden Knights.

Cathedral got a good showing from Nicholas Overton, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Overton is becoming a predictor of the Phantoms' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 5-2 (and 4-7 when he doesn't).

Cathedral's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for St. Francis, with the win, they broke their 11-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-13.

Looking ahead, Cathedral will take on Brawley at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Francis, they will take on Palm Desert in a tournament on Tuesday.
