The Las Animas Trojans entered their tilt with the La Veta Redhawks with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Las Animas breezed by La Veta at home to the tune of 61-31. That's another feather in the cap for Las Animas, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Las Animas had a senior duo take command as Tj Ortiz dropped a double-double on 20 points and 10 rebounds and Brander Nichols dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. The match was Ortiz's third in a row with at least ten points. Kree Wallace was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
La Veta's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tristan Musgrave, who scored 7 points along with 6 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Medina, who scored 14 points along with 5 steals.
