Baseball Game Preview: Patchogue-Medford Raiders vs. Riverhead Blue Waves

For the second straight game, Patchogue-Medford will face off against Riverhead. The Raiders will venture away from home to take on the Blue Waves at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Patchogue-Medford's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Riverhead's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Patchogue-Medford sidestepped Riverhead for a 2-1 victory.

Patchogue-Medford got a great performance from Thomas Fleischman as he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Fleischman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Patchogue-Medford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Derek Graham, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Graham is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Patchogue-Medford's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Riverhead, they now have a losing record of 8-9-1.
