Softball Game Preview: Miramonte Matadors vs. McKinleyville Panthers

The Miramonte Matadors will head out to square off against the McKinleyville Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Miramonte is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Miramonte is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against South Fork by a score of 7-2.

Abby Warren was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gianna Granzella was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Maddie McKim, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McKinleyville, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They put the hurt on Clear Lake with a sharp 10-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

McKinleyville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-13. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Miramonte, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
