Flag Football Recap: Presentation Comes Up Short

Presentation dropped down to 5-5 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 27-6 to the Ventura Cougars. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California flag football rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Cougars are ranked 39th).

Bianca Covarrubius threw for 187 yards and one touchdown. Jacinda Bateman was her top target, picking up 67 receiving yards and one TD.

As for Ventura, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Considering they have won nine games by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

A big part of Ventura's victory came down to the chemistry between Ava Ortman and her top target Mya Rodriguez. Ortman threw for 215 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of her passes while Rodriguez picked up 135 receiving yards and three scores. With that strong performance, Rodriguez is now averaging an impressive 101.4 receiving yards per game.

Presentation wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 28-6 win against Wilcox on the 27th. As for Ventura, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-12 victory against Los Gatos on the 27th.
