Fayetteville fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Woodland on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 6-5. The Wolves' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Lauren Cook spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Charlotte Kelley and Lucy Epperson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kelley went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Epperson went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bella Epperson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Fayetteville's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Woodland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 21 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-6 record this season.

Fayetteville has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 victory against Sylacauga on the 24th. As for Woodland, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-2 defeat against Central of Clay County on the 24th.
