Basketball Game Preview: LaGrange Gators vs. DeQuincy Tigers

The LaGrange Gators will head out to take on the DeQuincy Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: LaGrange has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while DeQuincy will arrive with three straight wins.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-33, which was the final score in LaGrange's tilt against St. Amant on Saturday. While losing is never fun, LaGrange can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while St. Amant is ranked 92nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DeQuincy). They blew past Johnson Bayou, posting a 78-35 victory.

DeQuincy pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for LaGrange, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14.

LaGrange strolled past DeQuincy in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 by a score of 79-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for LaGrange since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
