Baseball Recap: Wesley Chapel Comes Up Short

Wesley Chapel has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.63 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came up short against the Bishop Verot Vikings, falling 10-2. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Wesley Chapel saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mills Carrillo, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Even though they lost, Wesley Chapel hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Verot struck out six times.

Wesley Chapel's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Bishop Verot, their victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wesley Chapel will take on Wiregrass Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The last six games Wiregrass Ranch has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Bishop Verot, they will be taking part in a tournament against Southwest Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Florida Christian will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Bishop Verot surely won't give up without a fight.
