Basketball Game Preview: Olympic Heights Lions vs. Wellington Wolverines

Olympic Heights has won four straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Wellington has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Olympic Heights Lions will host the Wellington Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. Olympic Heights has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Olympic Heights is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 56-46 win over West Boca Raton on Monday. While the Lions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Olympic Heights to victory, but perhaps none more so than Logan Waller, who went 6 for 15 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Waller continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Ruggieri, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 17 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Wellington hadn't done well against Palm Beach Central recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Wellington came out on top against Palm Beach Central by a score of 49-37.

Olympic Heights' victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Wellington, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Olympic Heights came up short against Wellington in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 44-31. Thankfully for Olympic Heights, Madison Smith (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
