Basketball Recap: Fayette Sets Scoring Season-High Against New Bloomfield

Fayette is still winless after their game against New Bloomfield on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 74-72 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Bloomfield Wildcats. One positive for the Falcons, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Fayette still got an impressive performance from Kaleb Friebe, who went 13 for 26 on his way to 31 points and seven steals. Friebe has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Payton Oeth was another key player, putting up ten points.

New Bloomfield's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Massman, who went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points along with seven boards and six assists. The dominant performance also gave Massman a new career-high in steals (five). Another player making a difference was Trenton Boessen, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

Fayette's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for New Bloomfield, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-7 record.

Fayette will venture away from home to challenge Linn at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. New Bloomfield has already played their next contest (against Russellville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
