Basketball Game Preview: Marianna Bulldogs vs. Gadsden County Jaguars

The Marianna Bulldogs will face off against the Gadsden County Jaguars on Wednesday. Marianna knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Gadsden County likes a good challenge.

Marianna is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Maclay just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 76-70 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marauders. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Bulldogs came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Marauders are ranked 353rd).

Despite the defeat, Marianna got top-tier performance from Mason Mobley, who went 8 for 18 en route to 21 points and five rebounds. What's more, Mobley also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Kenyon Holden was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Gadsden County ended up a good deal behind Crossroad Academy on Saturday and lost 51-37.

Gadsden County's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Marianna, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-4.

Marianna was able to grind out a solid win over Gadsden County in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 61-53. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Gadsden County's Zion Peterson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 boards.
