Softball Game Preview: Westside Rebels vs. Mountainburg Dragons

The Westside Rebels will face off against the Mountainburg Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Westside has given up an average of 13.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Acorn hit Westside with a five-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rebels came up short against the Tigers, falling 16-9. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Ayla Highfill was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Cato, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountainburg). They blew past Life Way Christian 16-3 on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Dragons as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Westside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-16-1. As for Mountainburg, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-12.

Everything went Westside's way against Mountainburg in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Westside made off with a 12-5 win. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
