Softball Recap: Ursuline Academy Victorious

Ursuline Academy won the last time they faced O'Bryant and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Bears walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Tigers. With that win, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Emersyn Smart made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Celia Mitchell was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lila Cownie, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

The victory got Ursuline Academy back to even at 7-7. As for O'Bryant, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ursuline Academy will square off against Bellingham at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for O'Bryant, they will challenge Lynn Classical at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
