After a string of five wins, Alvin's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Manvel Mavericks by a score of 6-5. The Yellowjackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mavericks earlier this season, when they won 6-2.

Alvin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Manvel, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alvin will face off against Dawson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Manvel, they will take on Fort Bend Kempner at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
