Softball Recap: Bartlett Panthers vs. Houston Mustangs

Bartlett had lost four straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-23 to make it five. They came up short against the Houston Mustangs, falling 16-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-3 back in March.

Bartlett saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Molly Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Houston, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-12. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 16-3).

On Houston's side, Madeleine McClure made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. McClure was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI.

In other batting news, Lindsey Barnes was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kaylea Howell, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Bartlett will face off against Southwind at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Houston, they will take on Millington Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
