Recap: Sonoma Valley Dragons vs. Napa Grizzlies
The Sonoma Valley Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of Napa by a score of 63-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (55), Sonoma Valley still had to take the loss.
Sonoma Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hudson Giarritta, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Vinny Girish who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Giarritta continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Jordan, who scored seven points.
Sonoma Valley has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Napa, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sonoma Valley will square off against Petaluma at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Petaluma presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sonoma Valley in California (Petaluma is ranked 119th, while Sonoma Valley is ranked 691st). As for Napa, they will head out on the road to take on Casa Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
