Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Southern Academy's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Southern Academy won the last time they faced Coosa Valley Academy and things went their way on Friday too. Southern Academy came out on top against Coosa Valley Academy by a score of 9-5. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Drew Rogers made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rogers was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Wyatt Martin was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Walt Etheridge also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Southern Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. Coosa Valley Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-12.

Looking ahead, Southern Academy will host Patrician Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Coosa Valley Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Hope Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Hope Christian Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Coosa Valley Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
