They came out on top against Mount Vernon by a score of 52-43. Given Ford's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while Mount Vernon is ranked 1103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ford can attribute much of their success to Kent Warden, who scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds. Warden has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Anderson Smith was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals.
Ford's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Mount Vernon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Ford will head out on the road to face off against Bonham at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Bonham is on a four-game streak of home wins, Ford a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Mount Vernon will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Jefferson at 12:45 p.m. on December 7th.
