Volleyball Recap: Rocky Mount Academy's Undefeated Season over After Three Games + How To Watch

If Rocky Mount Academy was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Lawrence Academy on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles fell 3-1 to the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors on Tuesday. Surprisingly, this marked the Eagles' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Rocky Mount Academy started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-14.

McKenna Rogers paced Rocky Mount Academy's offense, picking up 16 kills. Rogers got some help from Landry Miller and her 21 assists. Rogers also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Charlotte Burns, racking up four apiece.

Portia Hale had an outrageously good game for St. Thomas More Academy as she had 27 digs and four aces. That's the most aces Hale has posted since back in October of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Rocky Mount Academy fell to 2-1. As for St. Thomas More Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Rocky Mount Academy will take on John Paul II Catholic at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they will face off against Trinity Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
