Softball Recap: Westlake Takes Down Schurr in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Westlake walked away with it. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Schurr Spartans on Thursday.

Presley Watters spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Olivia Tirsch was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Kira Palmer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Westlake's win bumped their record up to 16-13. As for Schurr, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-6-1.

Coming up, Westlake will square off against Chaminade at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. Schurr does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
