Basketball Game Preview: Grand Haven Buccaneers vs. West Ottawa Panthers

The Grand Haven Buccaneers will take on the West Ottawa Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Grand Haven will be strutting in after a victory while West Ottawa will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Grand Haven was fully in charge, breezing past Grandville 60-18. The Buccaneers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, West Ottawa came up short against East Kentwood on Tuesday and fell 62-50. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Falcons are ranked 115th).

Grand Haven's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points over those games. As for West Ottawa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Grand Haven against West Ottawa in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 54-27 victory. Will Grand Haven repeat their success, or does West Ottawa have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
