Recap: Chambers Cougars vs. Hopewell Titans

Even though the Hopewell Titans scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, the Chambers Cougars still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Chambers made off with a 70-69 victory over Hopewell. That's another feather in the cap for Chambers, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Chambers' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tarris Bouie led the charge by scoring 24 points along with four steals. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jordan Patton was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Chambers' victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Hopewell, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chambers will challenge North Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in North Mecklenburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Hopewell will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against West Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. West Mecklenburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 334th, while Hopewell is ranked 42nd).
