Baseball Recap: Perryton Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Perryton and Hereford, and Hereford kept the tradition alive. Perryton fell 8-3 to Hereford on Friday. The Rangers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Whitefaces apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Avaun Garcia was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Perryton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Carranza, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Marco Najera also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Perryton's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Hereford, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-7-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Perryton is set to square off against their familiar foe Borger at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hereford will take on rival Randall at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
