Baseball Game Preview: Bonita Vista Barons vs. Scripps Ranch Falcons

Bonita Vista and Scripps Ranch are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Bonita Vista will challenge Scripps Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bonita Vista hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

Bonita Vista is headed into the game having just suffered their closest defeat since May 24, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Coronado by a score of 4-2.

Bonita Vista got a good showing from CRISTIAN AYALA, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, AYALA posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Bonita Vista saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was ADRIAN FIGUEROA, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. LEO CUBILLAS also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch fell victim to Montgomery and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Aztecs by a score of 1-0. The Falcons just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Scripps Ranch's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Bonita Vista, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Bonita Vista beat Scripps Ranch 8-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bonita Vista since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
