Our Lady of Lourdes hasn't had much luck against Saugerties recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Warriors will be playing at home against the Sawyers at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with seven defeats in a row, Our Lady of Lourdes turned things around against Roosevelt on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Presidents, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since April 15, 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Saugerties). They put the hurt on Red Hook with a sharp 17-10 victory on Tuesday. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Sawyers, who until this matchup were averaging 3.86 runs allowed.
Grace Madelone was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Saugerties got a big performance out of Lily Malgieri, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Morgan Pritchard was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Saugerties hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
The win made it two in a row for Saugerties and bumps their season record up to 9-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Our Lady of Lourdes, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 2-9.
Our Lady of Lourdes suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Saugerties in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
